Privacy Policy

The short version. Breezy Weather has no user accounts and no database. We do not collect your name, your email address or your password. Everything you save stays in your own browser on your own device. We cannot see it, and we could not hand it over even if we were asked to.
Who we are
Breezy Weather is made by Ideas to Integers, a studio operated by Alisa Roberts. You can reach us about anything on this page at the contact address listed on our Terms of Service.
What we store, and where
Breezy stores a small amount of information using your browser's local storage. This never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us:
- A display name, if you choose to enter one. It is optional and can be anything.
- Your saved places, as city names and approximate coordinates.
- Your settings, such as Fahrenheit or Celsius and high contrast mode.
- Your alert preferences.
- Which alerts you have already been notified about, so you are not notified twice.
You can delete all of it at any time from the Profile menu, or by clearing site data in your browser. There is no copy anywhere else, which also means your saved places do not follow you to another device.
Location
If you tap the location button, your browser asks for your permission and then gives Breezy your coordinates. Those coordinates are rounded to roughly one kilometre before they are used for anything, because a forecast does not need to know which house you are in. The rounded position is sent to our weather data providers so they can return a forecast for your area. We do not store your location on a server and we do not keep a history of where you have been.
You can decline the permission request and search for a place by name instead. Every feature except the location button works without it.
Third party services
To show you a forecast, Breezy sends requests from your browser to the following services. Those requests include your approximate location and your IP address, because that is how the internet works. Each service has its own privacy policy:
- Open-Meteo for forecasts, air quality and place search. Their terms.
- US National Weather Service for severe weather alerts. A public service of the United States Government.
- Windy for the radar map, which loads inside an embedded frame. Their privacy policy.
- Vercel hosts this site and keeps standard server logs. Their privacy policy.
We do not control what these providers do with the requests they receive, and the radar map in particular is a third party embed that may set its own cookies.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
There are none. Breezy contains no advertising, no analytics scripts, no tracking pixels, no social media widgets and no third party cookies set by us. We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any to sell.
Notifications
If you turn on severe weather alerts, your browser asks for notification permission. Notifications are generated on your own device by comparing the National Weather Service feed against your settings. No push server is involved and we are never told that you received one. You can revoke the permission in your browser settings at any time.
Children
Breezy Weather is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Since the app collects no personal information at all, there is nothing for us to delete on request, though a parent or guardian can clear the app's local data from the device directly.
Your rights
Privacy laws including the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA in California give you rights to access, correct, export and delete your personal information. Because Breezy holds your information only on your own device, you can exercise those rights yourself and immediately. Your saved places are visible in the app at any time, and Start over in the Profile menu erases everything. We hold no additional copy to produce, correct or delete.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS with a strict content security policy. Earlier versions of Breezy stored a password in browser storage. That feature has been removed and any such data left behind by an old version is deleted automatically the first time you load this version. We are sorry it ever shipped.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top of this page will change and a notice will appear in the app. Continuing to use Breezy after a change means you accept the updated policy.
