Weather Safety Disclaimer
Last updated 8 August 2026
Breezy Weather is not an emergency notification service and must never be your only source of severe weather warnings. Do not use it to make decisions where someone's safety depends on the answer.
What Breezy can and cannot do
Breezy displays forecast data and repeats severe weather alerts issued by the US National Weather Service. It is a convenience, not a safety system. In particular:
- Breezy only checks for alerts while it is open. If the app is closed, your phone is asleep, or your browser has suspended the tab, no check happens and no notification is sent.
- Notifications require an internet connection. Severe weather frequently takes out power and mobile networks, which is exactly when you would need the warning most.
- Data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Forecasts are predictions. Alert feeds can lag, and third party services can fail without telling us.
- Alert coverage is United States only. Outside the United States, Breezy shows no alerts at all. An empty alerts section never means conditions are safe.
- Alerts are matched to a location you chose. If you are viewing another city, you will see that city's alerts and not the ones where you are standing.
What to rely on instead
For warnings that could affect your safety, use sources built for that job:
- Wireless Emergency Alerts sent by government authorities to your phone. Make sure they are enabled in your phone's settings.
- A NOAA Weather Radio with battery backup and an alarm tone. It works when the power and the cell network do not.
- weather.gov and your local National Weather Service office.
- Local broadcast radio and television.
- Outdoor warning sirens where your community has them.
Aviation, marine and professional use

In an emergency
Call your local emergency number. In the United States that is 911. Follow the instructions of local officials over anything shown in this app.
